Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, Head Medical is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist (General) to work at a leading private hospital in the UK.
Based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, you will join a professional, friendly, and compassionate team dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. The organization emphasizes prompt, high-standard treatment in clean, comfortable surroundings.
Shepton Mallet, near the Mendip Hills—an area of outstanding natural beauty—is ideal for those seeking tranquility. Nearby towns like Wells and Glastonbury offer excellent schools, and towns such as Castle Cary have direct train links to London.
In this key role, you'll anaesthetise patients for various procedures—from ophthalmology to orthopaedics, gynaecology, and general surgery. Besides clinical duties, you'll engage in departmental administration, management, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
This role is mainly elective, except for postoperative cases requiring return to theatre. You will also participate in outpatient pre-assessment on a rota basis.
The successful candidate will have extensive independent experience in the procedures listed, an excellent clinical record, and the ability to perform efficiently in theatre.
This is an opportunity to join an innovative healthcare organization committed to introducing new ideas and working methods. The role includes clinical, teaching, and staff development responsibilities.
A typical schedule involves 40 hours of clinical work weekly, including occasional Saturdays, with flexible arrangements. Five hours of SPA time are allocated weekly, with flexibility to accommodate leave and planned rotas.
