Job Description:

Working as part of a skillful multi-discipline team, Head Medical is seeking a Consultant in General Anaesthesia to work at a leading private hospital in the UK.

Based in Plymouth, Devon, you will join a professional, friendly, and compassionate team dedicated to providing high-quality, prompt treatment in clean and comfortable surroundings.

Your role will involve anaesthetising patients for various procedures, including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, and general surgery. You will also participate in departmental administration, management, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

This position is primarily elective, with exceptions for postoperative patients requiring return to theatre. You will also attend outpatient clinics on a rota basis for preoperative patient assessment.

The successful candidate will have independently performed a substantial number of procedures listed above, with an excellent clinical record and efficiency in theatre.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of an innovative healthcare company, with responsibilities spanning clinical work, teaching, and staff development.

A typical job plan includes 40 hours of clinical activity per week, including occasional Saturdays, with flexible scheduling. Five hours of SPA are allocated weekly, with flexibility for cover during colleagues' leave, with rotas planned months in advance.

  • Medium-sized hospital with three operating theatres, a day surgery theatre, endoscopy suite, diagnostic imaging, and physiotherapy departments
  • 30 inpatient beds

Requirements to apply?

  • UK registered Medical Degree
  • FRCA or equivalent specialist training
