A leading NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a General Consultant Anaesthetist to provide anaesthesia across various specialties and participate in clinical governance. The appointee will share clinical responsibilities in the anaesthesia department, with an on-call commitment of approximately 1:20. Candidates must possess a Full GMC with a licence to practise. This role offers flexible working hours and excellent benefits including discounted gym memberships and a strong support system for professional development.
These are a mixture of replacement appointments following expansion of our services and the retirement of existing consultants. The post is for a General Consultant Anaesthetist where special interests in most major sub interests of anaesthesia can usually be accommodated.
The James Paget University Hospital, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn are now working in partnership as the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group.

In addition to duties within subspeciality, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience. There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1:20, providing cover for the emergency on call work. A separate consultant on-call rota exists for paediatric anaesthesia, weekend and bank holiday day trauma theatres, intensive care medicine and obstetric anaesthesia.
All postholders, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance program. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
