Job Description:

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in ENT - Head and Neck on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful ENT department.

Our client is one of the UK's largest Hospitals in the South West with over 9,000 staff working across 3 sites. The Trust manages the patients in the East of Dorset and into the west of Hampshire. The ENT department sits under the Surgical Care group. The service provides Elective and emergency services at Poole hospital with Outpatient activity across both Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals. The ENT Team currently consists of 6 Consultants Surgeons, with the successful candidate expected to join the current Head and Neck team, which currently has 2 ENT surgeons. The successful candidate will support The Head and Neck MDT which consists of the consultant surgeon team from ENT and OMF and 3 oncologists. This busy service sees over 150 new cases of H&N SCC per annum (excluding Skin cases). The department is a recruiter for national and international clinical trials including PATHOS and HARE-40. The trust leads the UK robotic database collection. The unit is a training unit attracting positive feedback from NTN registrars in the Wessex deanery as well as national and international fellows within Head & Neck surgery as well as interventional laryngology. The Thyroid and Parathyroid MDT consists of consultants from ENT and General Surgery as well as an Oncologist. The successful candidate will play an active part in supporting this service which is 1 in 4 for whole Thursday morning.

The successful candidate will become part of the consultant on call with onsite middle grade cover and junior doctor cover. They will form part of a collaborative team of surgeons who will offer support on both a clinical and pastoral basis. The Consultant team all work across general ENT, but have specialist interests, including Otology, Rhinology, Paediatrics and Laryngology where the department runs an active interventional laryngology service which offers Trans nasal Oesophagoscopy and other interventions.

Our client's location is based in the South West where they'll have access to excellent public and private schools along with reasonable house prices and excellent railway and motorway links to major cities such as Bristol and London with very close distance from an international airport.
