Job description

Consultant in Emergency Medicine – North West England- PERM/FTC

Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS Trust based in North West England to help recruit a Consultant in Emergency Medicine for a substantive position, but will also consider a Locum Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months minimum.

The Trust provides a full range of general acute and community services for people living in and around the local region. With over 9,000 staff, they provide high quality care to over 450,000 local people. They operate via multiple sites and pride themselves on high quality patient care. You will be part of a friendly and dedicated team of over 20 Consultants & Specialist Doctors who deliver care for around 95,000 new patients who attend the ED each year.

Brief Duties:

  1. Be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making, whilst ensuring that the Clinical Quality Indicators to deliver safe quality and performance are delivered and sustained.
  2. Referral of patients to other specialties, transfer of patients for admission to assessment units, to other hospitals within or outside the Trust, referral as outpatient or back to the community.
  3. Provide high quality consultant delivered care to patients including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients.
  4. Work in conjunction with the nurse co-ordinator and medical and surgical colleagues to ensure that there is effective and timely communication between the clinical team; timely intervention and safe care to maintain optimal patient flow.
  5. Provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supervise, and train the junior and specialty doctors in Emergency Medicine; advanced nurse practitioners and emergency nurse practitioners.
