Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant to join a collaborative and innovative team dedicated to delivering high-quality diabetes and endocrine care to the Somerset population. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and develop services in line with their interests and expertise. This position offers 6 PAs and is based at Yeovil Hospital, alongside other established Consultant posts. The ideal candidate will be prepared to embrace new challenges to expand the service and work collaboratively with a diverse team. Our management team is committed to service development, with regular monthly meetings ensuring strong collaboration between management and consultant colleagues.
Outpatient work - The new consultant will provide outpatient clinics, provide cover for the podiatry clinics and contribute to the support for the endocrine nurse running dynamic endocrine tests.
Inpatient work - The new consultant will take part of the medical on call rota (1 in 14 weekdays and weekends, with the option to split weekends). The new consultant will support the other Diabetes and Endocrine Consultants in seeing diabetes and endocrine ward referrals and take a lead role supporting the diabetes inpatient specialist nurses and podiatrist.
To work with the multidisciplinary team to support the development of in-house, county-wide and community diabetes.
To provide cover for colleagues in their absence and to deal with emergencies as the occasion demands.
