It is envisaged that the post holder will carry out the majority of their duties as a Consultant Intensivist on CTICU, GICU or NICU. There are opportunities for some DCC time to be allocated to contribute to the Critical Care Outreach Service, follow-up clinic and/or to pursue a secondary clinical speciality. We currently have Consultants who split their time across Anaesthesia, Medical Specialties, St George's Medical School and wider Trust/NHS managerial roles. Main duties of the jobPlease see the Job Summary section attached for a description of the expected duties of the post-holder. The job plan will be fully annualised. Current job planning guidance at St George's expects consultants to work a minimum of 42 clinical weeks per year. The post holder will be required to participate in the CTICU/ GICU / NICU consultant on-call rota. There are 2 rotas on each unit that run in parallel. The '2nd on' rota provides for second consultant weekday cover and includes that weekday night.
The post holder will have the option of spending a portion of Direct Clinical Care with the Outreach service, which provides 7-day a week 07:45 to 17:45 consultant cover.
