A leading healthcare provider seeks a Consultant in Community Sexual & Reproductive Health to join a multidisciplinary team in Somerset. The role involves providing clinical care, managing complex contraception procedures, and supporting training initiatives. The role of Consultant in Community Sexual & Reproductive Health (CSRH) is a new post based within Somerset Wide Integrated Sexual Health (SWISH). The post holder will join a multidisciplinary team in providing clinical care across Somerset. Currently the service has its main hub in Taunton with eight community clinics across the county.
This post has been created to provide support for the newly created specialist complex contraception service within SWISH and the postholder will join the existing CSRH consultant in delivering this service. SWISH are anticipating a second main hub opening in Yeovil, an area with high levels of unmet sexual health need, and a second CSRH consultant will support service development. Responsibilities of the post will include the lead role for training in LARC/FSRH qualifications as well as Training Programme Director for the Somerset GTP. The role involves working at the main hub in Taunton and SWISH community sites and working alongside the Starling (HIV) service to support the ongoing process of integration.

The main duties of the post will be as follows:
To provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare across Somerset and to supervise and provide assistance to the multidisciplinary team.
To provide contraception for patients with significant co-morbidities and develop pathways to allow ease of co-ordination of patient care between specialties.
To undertake complex contraception procedures with the use of ultrasound, including removal of deeply sited implants.
Manage sexually transmitted infections presenting within a sexual healthcare setting, with support of GU consultant colleagues as appropriate.
Triage referrals and offer telephone and email advice to healthcare professionals.
Undertake training clinics for health professionals seeking FSRH qualifications.
