The NHS is seeking a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specializing in Urological and Colorectal malignancies to join their expanding team in North Wales. We are excited to be looking for a new colleague to join our expanding team of substantive consultants based in North Wales. We are currently looking for a number of Clinical Oncologist Consultants in a range of sub-specialities to strengthen our workforce so that we can provide the best care to the people of north Wales.The successful candidate will be based in Glan Clwyd Hospital. There is an on call element to the role and you will be required to take part on a 1 in 8 basis.We encourage and welcome applications from colleagues who specialise in other tumour sites and will work to create a job plan that is beneficial to the individual and the department.The successful candidate will be appointed to the amended Welsh Consultant contract, which offers newly qualified consultants three SPA's as standard.The Health Board welcomes applicants who wish to seek further information or visit. Short-listed candidates are encouraged to visit the hospitals before being interviewed by the Advisory Appointments Committee. Key tasks:
o To provide specialist oncological services to the population served with special reference to the common cancers and agreed appropriate oncology subspecialties and to be an active participant in each of these multidisciplinary teams.
o To develop a site specialist and research interest. This will include developing clinical research and entering patients into appropriate national and international studies.
o To provide regular ward rounds for oncology inpatients on Enfys Ward, NWCTC & in the main hospital site as necessary.
o To work closely with clinical consultant colleagues and to provide seamless cancer care for all patients.
o To work closely with colleagues in other Divisions to assist in providing an efficient service for patients transferring between the different disciplines and during the patient journey.
o To liaise with colleagues in oncology, haematology and palliative care to provide inpatient cover for oncology patients.
o To develop and participate in collaborative initiatives, having a high regard for clinical effectiveness and to the practice of evidence based medicine.
o To participate in audit and teaching and to have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
