Job Title: Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Grade: Consultant
Location: Newport, Hampshire
Working Hours:40 hours per week
Rate: Competitive, to be discussed upon application

We are seeking an enthusiastic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work full time hoursfor our NHS client based in Newport, Hampshire. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately for a short-term contract.

What will your responsibilities be?

As a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the UK, your responsibilities are both broad and specialised. You are primarily responsible for providing expert clinical assessments and diagnoses for children and adolescents experiencing complex mental health issues. This involves leading and overseeing the development of comprehensive treatment plans and therapeutic interventions. You are expected to manage and support multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration between various healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses.

In addition, you play a key role in supervising and mentoring junior staff and trainees, contributing to their professional development. You also engage in regular MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) meetings to discuss patient progress, share insights, and adjust treatment strategies as necessary. Furthermore, you may be involved in service development and quality improvement initiatives, aiming to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of CAMHS services.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • You must have a full GMC licence to practice
  • Previous experience in CAMHS
  • Section 12/RC approval is essential
  • Able to perform General Developmental Assessments and Initial Health Assessments for Looked After Children
  • Specialist Register (CCT)
