Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's prestigious NHS Trusts to help recruit a Consultant in Cardiology on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their Cardiology department.

The Trust provides acute treatment for a catchment population of around 500,000, with 759 beds and comprehensive services including medicine, surgery, women and children's services, emergency care, and diagnostics. The care quality has been rated as outstanding by the CQC.

The cardiology services serve approximately 550,000 people. The department is based in a purpose-built Cardiac Centre opened in 2000, featuring dedicated catheterisation labs, outpatient facilities, and inpatient wards, including an 8-bed CCU and a 36-bed cardiac ward.

The team includes 11 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Specialist Registrars, and other medical staff. There are regular clinics, nurse-led services, and a busy rehabilitation unit.

The successful candidate will:

  • Engage in TOE/echocardiography as a sub-specialty interest
  • Contribute to cardiac services provision
  • Participate in audits, meetings, and administrative duties
  • Attend outpatient clinics and ward work, including management of acute admissions
  • Participate in research and teaching activities
