Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Vascular and POA. Our services span across The Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital, Newham Hospital, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

At the Royal London Hospital, we provide services including POA, pain management, trauma, orthopaedics, gynae-oncology, urology, HpB, colorectal, ENT, general and plastic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular, renal, maxillofacial, dental, paediatrics, obstetrics, and interventional radiology.

Main duties of the job

This is a substantive consultant post based at The Royal London Hospital. The successful candidate may be asked to cover surgical lists at other sites within the Trust. Future opportunities to work at other hospitals within the group may also be available.

The role involves working flexibly across specialties, particularly in Vascular and POA.

Qualifications/Clinical Skills

• GMC Registration
• MBBS or equivalent
• CCT in anaesthesia or within 6 months of achieving it
• FRCA or equivalent
• ALS/APLS
• SIA or equivalent in POA and Vascular
• Experience within the UK healthcare system
• Experience in anaesthesia for complex orthopaedic trauma

Knowledge, Abilities, and Experience

• Extensive experience in various anaesthesia techniques and major trauma management
• Peri-operative care and pain management experience
• Clinical management training and governance experience
• Experience in training nursing and AHP staff

Personal Skills and Qualities

• Effective communication skills
• Leadership and decision-making capabilities
• Ability to build relationships and work under pressure
• Leadership skills for multidisciplinary teams

Teaching & Training

• Involvement in teaching undergraduates and junior staff
• Training in teaching skills
• Instructor status in ATLS, ALS, APLS, or PALS
• Experience in developing educational modules
