Job Title:Consultant in Adult Psychiatry
Grade:Consultant
Hours:40 hours per week
Location:Brighton, Sussex

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our esteemed NHS client’s dynamic team based in Brighton, Sussex. This position is available for an immediate start, offering competitive rates.

Key Responsibilities:

The Consultant in Adult Psychiatry will oversee clinical responsibility for both inpatient and community settings. They will manage a caseload of adult patients with diverse psychiatric needs, providing comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective care, participating in ward rounds, and conducting regular patient reviews. The consultant will also be responsible for the clinical supervision of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals. They will engage in service development initiatives, contribute to policy and protocol development, and participate in audit and research activities. The consultant will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Mental Health Act, and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Additionally, they will provide education and training to medical students, trainees, and other staff members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Approved Clinician status.
  • Extensive experience in both inpatient and community psychiatric settings.
  • Strong clinical leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
