You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with acute medical conditions, ensuring they receive exceptional care from admission to discharge. Collaboration with consultants, resident doctors, and multidisciplinary teams is essential to ensure smooth patient pathways.
The Acute Medicine department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is proactive in service development, quality improvement, education, and training. In December 2022, we opened a new Acute Medical Unit (AMU) with 36 assessment spaces across levels 2 and 3, including a Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) facility. We also oversee additional capacity in the 24-bed Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU4).
The team manages patient care across these areas and provides an Acute Medicine in-reach service in the Emergency Department during daytime hours.
