Applications are invited to apply for a Substantive Consultant post in Acute Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. There may be an opportunity to appoint additional qualified medicine consultants if there are enough suitable candidates. Illustrative job plans will be provided at interview.
We seek a dynamic Acute Physician or Specialty Physician with an interest in Acute Medicine to join our team of Acute Physicians. Candidates dual trained in General Internal Medicine are welcome to apply. MKUH has opened a new state-of-the-art Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC), and this post will be crucial to support the new unit and deliver 7-day Same Day Emergency Care.
The successful applicant will join 10 other acute physicians and work on the medical admission ward, SDEC, and provide medical in-reach and review within the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
Shifts include MAU ward rounds (08:00–13:00), ED in-reach and medical review (08:00–17:00), SDEC (09:00–19:00), weekend MAU ward rounds (08:00–12:00), weekend SDEC (12:00–16:00), and participation in the medical on-call rota. An on-call supplement is paid for overnight cover, with possible emergency return to hospital.
This is a 10 PA job plan with 1 PA core SPA. Up to 1.5 PAs of non-core SPA can be agreed upon. SPA activities include appraisal, revalidation, CME, departmental meetings, educational supervision, research, leadership, and quality improvement, scheduled over a 5-week cycle.
