Job Description:

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client has recently been awarded £30 million to restructure and redesign its front door services, working alongside their Emergency Department colleagues. They are seeking someone to join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The successful appointee will join an existing team of senior medical staff including Consultants & Associate Specialists. You will become part of a well-established, friendly team and will help drive improvements in patient care. As a senior team member, you will contribute to training and supervising junior colleagues. The Trust emphasizes staff wellbeing and offers various support programs; their Health and Wellbeing team received a National Award in 2020.

The duties include: multidisciplinary team working with regular MDT discussions, providing evidence-based patient care, overseeing patient care responsibilities, developing subspecialty interests aligned with the division's needs, providing cover for colleagues' leave, participating in an out-of-hours rota, and engaging in teaching, examinations, and continuing medical education. Participation in clinical audits and educational activities is also expected.
