Job summary
The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology (SYBP) Partnership is hosted by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and delivers clinical laboratory services to 5 Partner Trusts across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.
We are appointing up to 2 FTE Consultant Histopathologist. A variety of areas of subspecialist practice can be accommodated subject to the special interests of the applicant, but applications from candidates offering Dermatopathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Gynae pathology, Breast, Hepatobiliary and Endocrine pathology are particularly welcome. We envisage the posts will be primarily based at Sheffield but there may be to support to services at Doncaster or Rotherham pending our laboratory consolidation.
SYB Histopathology is transitioning to primary Digital reporting and applications from digitally trained pathologists are welcome.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the jobThe Consultant staff of the Histopathology Department are organised into subspecialist reporting teams. Our consultants typically practice in 1 - 3 subspecialist areas of practice in line with their interests and with the needs of the department. Direct Clinical Care (DCC) work includes appropriate dissection, histology and cytology reporting, and MDT preparation and delivery.
