A leading healthcare provider in Truro is seeking a qualified individual for a position requiring GMC registration and experience in gastroenterology. The role involves conducting colonoscopy, teaching medical staff, and participating in clinical governance. Over the last few years £3.4m has been spent on fully refurbishing and expanding the endoscopy unit. The department boasts 6 rooms on the Royal Cornwall site and one room at the West Cornwall site. In addition, a new mobile trans-nasal endoscopy service has been approved and will be operational in the next few months. The department has won awards for innovations in green endoscopy including being the first in the UK to utilise Entonox scrubbing equipment. The endoscopy workforce has also been dramatically expanded and includes new consultant and non-consultant endoscopists.
Bowel cancer screening has been well established since 2009. We are currently fully age extended from 56-75 and will shortly be extending invitations to 54 year olds.
We have always performed well at QA visits and meet key KPIs. We currently have seven accredited screening colonoscopists performing lists across two sites and a fully staffed admin and SSP nursing team. We are active in national research studies including SEAFOOD and COLO-PREVENT.
