Lexington is a leading independent strategic communications and public affairs consultancy. We are looking for an ambitious Consultant (equivalent to Account Manager or Senior Account Manager) to play a central role in our award‑winning healthcare practice. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong consultancy experience to step up, lead day‑to‑day client delivery, and help shape high‑impact public affairs and integrated programmes.

Our healthcare team sits at the intersection of policy, politics, the media and innovation, working with UK and global organisation, working with pharma and MedTech, as well as providers and not‑for profits. As part of the team, you will help clients tackle some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges, from improving access to innovative medicines and technologies to reducing health inequalities, overcoming barriers, and supporting the transformation of healthcare services.

About the role

As a Consultant, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of client accounts, ensuring excellent delivery across public affairs, communications and integrated programmes. You will draw on your consultancy experience to manage projects, develop high‑quality content, support senior colleagues, and contribute to new business activity. You will thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and be confident managing multiple priorities at pace.

Key responsibilities

• Campaign delivery: Support the planning and execution of strategic public affairs and communications campaigns, ensuring measurable impact for clients.
• Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, NHS leaders, healthcare professionals, media and industry bodies.
• Content development: Draft high‑quality materials including briefings, reports, speeches, stakeholder communications, press releases, social media content and presentations.
• Project management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and client expectations exceeded. Support account resourcing, budgeting and reporting.
• Event support: Assist with client events, roundtables, webinars, parliamentary activity and healthcare congress programmes.
• New business: Contribute to proposals, pitches and research to support the growth of the healthcare practice.
• Team support: Provide guidance to junior colleagues, manage upwards, and contribute to a positive, high‑performing team culture.

About you

We are looking for someone who combines strong consultancy skills with excellent judgement, organisation and communication. You will ideally have:

• Prior public affairs or PR agency experience (essential).
• 2 to 4+ years’ experience in healthcare public affairs or communications.
• Strong understanding of UK politics, the NHS and how policy is shaped and influenced.
• Strong understanding of UK media dynamics and ideally some experience delivering communications or integrated programmes.
• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven experience delivering projects and supporting client relationships.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and a willingness to learn and contribute to team success.
