A regional healthcare trust in Bournemouth is seeking a Haemato-oncology consultant to provide clinical care and engage in research activities. The role includes participating in a 1:13 on-call rota, collaborating with universities, and becoming involved in the expansion of treatment programmes. Applicants should be qualified as a Haemato-oncology consultant with an interest in research and clinical trials.
UHD is a recently formed multi-million-pound investment Trust comprising Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals in partnership with Bournemouth University. The 30-bed haematology in-patient unit, including the JACIE-accredited autologous transplant unit, will be housed at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital from April 2024 and will provide day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. Poole Hospital is developing as the major planned/elective care hospital with day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities.
We currently run dedicated CLL, lymphoma, WM, myeloma, MDS & MPN clinics. We have representation on NCRI MDS, MPN, Myeloma & CLL subgroups, and on national bodies including UK Myeloma Society, UK CLL Forum and UK MDS Forum executive committees, and are actively involved in writing BSH national guidelines.
We are recruiting to a Haemato-oncology consultant post (10PA). Applicants wishing to work LTFT will also be considered.
Successful candidates will join our friendly team of haemato-oncology consultants and participate in a 1:13 rota supported by a two-tiered SHO and SpR on-call rota.
We have an active JACIE-accredited transplant centre for Dorset autologous stem cell transplants and network with the University Hospital Southampton transplant team, which provides allogeneic & CART-cell services for our patients.

We intend to expand our service and welcome candidates interested in further developing our bispecific antibody programme. We expect all colleagues to take an active role in clinical research and encourage consultants to take on local PI & CI roles in their sub-speciality interests.
We have strong links with Southampton & Bournemouth universities and there is the opportunity for collaborative research. We currently have 1 PhD student based in the Dorset Pathology Hub, which recently opened on the Bournemouth site and houses the Dorset HMDS.
