A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Consultant - General Paediatrician with an interest in Epilepsy. The role involves outpatient clinic management, patient care in various paediatric units, and participation in a multidisciplinary team. Candidates are expected to have significant paediatric experience and relevant qualifications. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of 19 dedicated WTE Acute Paediatric Consultants with an interest in Epilepsy.

The role involves managing one general outpatient clinic and one epilepsy clinic weekly. The post holder will have attending duties on the Children's Ward, Neonatal Unit, and Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), including conducting Child Protection Medicals as needed.
Weekly, two consultants are on duty: one for Paediatrics and one for Neonates. Responsibilities include managing the Paediatric Ward and HDU, and caring for babies on the Neonatal unit, Delivery suite, postnatal ward, and transitional care. The role also includes providing a consultant-delivered GP Hotline Service Mon-Fri 0900-1800 for acute referrals and advice.
On-call duties for out-of-hours cover are 1 in 12, covering both Paediatrics and Neonates, with attendance at night handovers. All patients are reviewed by a consultant within 14 hours of admission decision. Weekend cover is shared between two consultants, with supervision of handovers.

The paediatric department is part of the Frimley Health Women's and Children's Directorate.
The Paediatric Unit
Ward 24 has 29 beds for infants, children, and teenagers, plus 7 spaces in the PAU. It accepts direct ED admissions, elective cases, and GP referrals, and manages day cases, ambulatory care, and open access for selected groups. Separate areas are designated for various patient needs.
The Neonatal Unit
Our Local Neonatal Unit has 17 cots for babies born from 27 weeks gestation, caring for a range of needs, and collaborates with neonatal transport teams for transfers to NICU.
Paediatric Assessment Unit
The PAU, adjacent to the inpatient ward, staffed by nurses and resident doctors with a supervising consultant, serves as an SDEC. It has 7 beds and sees 20-30 children daily, supporting ED flow, direct GP referrals, day care, and ambulatory care.
