Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) post based in St John's Hospital.
The postholder will work across General Medicine and Medicine of the Elderly, joining a team of enthusiastic and motivated consultant physicians within a unit recognized for its innovation and passion for improvement. The unit has a strong emphasis on medical education and training, as well as close links with the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. It includes input from all medical specialties, an established Frailty screening and intervention service, and an award-winning Hospital at Home team.
This job comprises 10 PAs (9 DCC + 1 SPA). Additional SPA time may be available upon discussion at job planning with the successful appointee.
General Medicine duties involve Front Door responsibilities for Medicine at St John's Hospital, based in the Emergency Medical Assessment (EMA), managing GP referrals and ambulatory patients. There is a Level 1 High Dependency Care area adjacent to the Medical Admissions Unit.
Medicine of the Elderly duties include inpatient frailty care (Wards 8 & 9) and rehabilitation (Ward 14). There is also an opportunity for outpatient clinics in a specialist area of interest or Hospital at Home, depending on the interests of the successful candidate.
In addition to clinical duties, this post involves a commitment to undergraduate teaching at St John's Hospital, particularly within a clinical environment. Other non-clinical interests such as management, postgraduate education, quality improvement, and research are encouraged. A large number of trainee doctors rotate through the medical unit, and the successful applicant may wish to participate in educational supervision.
