These are replacement posts following the retirement and departure of previous Consultants. In December 2023, a new Acute and Crisis Pathway Team was formed to strengthen clinical support across this pathway. While county-wide, it aligns closely with geographical community services.
The posts sit within the Secure, Acute & Crisis Division, where the acute care pathway includes four inpatient wards at Antelope House, Forest Lodge (18-bed rehab unit), and the 24/7 Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT), which supports individuals at home.
Antelope House provides:
16-bed Female Acute -- Trinity Ward
10-bed Female Acute -- Abbey Ward
18-bed Male Acute -- Saxon Ward
Patients are primarily from Southampton but also wider Hampshire. The post holders will work closely with Consultants across the Acute Pathway and CMHTs and are expected to provide clinical leadership and support service development.

The post holders will be responsible for providing clinical care and be the responsible clinician for up to 18 inpatients, depending on which ward the post is aligned to.
As well as providing clinical leadership to the team and liaising with a wide variety of other stakeholders both in the locality and the wider geographical area the trust covers.
The consultants will have the support from the acute inpatient services which is established at 3 WTE consultants. The posts are supported by a two Middle grade Doctors who are shared across the 4 wards and 5 core trainees as wells as, nursing staff, OT, psychology and support staff. Each ward has its own ward manager with a modern matron overseeing the unit.
