Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct input to patients on the gastroenterology ward (Ward 24) at Royal Preston Hospital, support resident doctors and ACPs covering ward referrals and GI in-reach to the Emergency Department, and GI in-reach to Chorley Hospital on a rotational basis.
  • Participate in specialty multi-disciplinary meetings, regular governance and specialty business meetings.
  • Maintain high professional standards of clinical care through direct patient care and continuing professional development.
  • Develop links with local General Practitioners and community allied health professionals to support patient care across providers.
  • Exercise freedom to develop specialist elements of the service reflecting priorities and available resources.
  • Support postgraduate and undergraduate education, providing endoscopy training and supervision on the ward and in clinics.

Job summary

You will be based predominantly at the Royal Preston Hospital and facilitate the delivery of high-quality Gastroenterology across both sites at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, with rotating in-reach provision to Chorley General Hospital.Both are currently 1 in 6, but frequency will decrease further with recruitment. You will join of a team of 7 Gastroenterology Consultants and participate in a return to site GI bleeding rota (1 in 7).

Main duties of the job
