Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist/Practitioner MPAC - Ash Ward

CLINICAL DUTIES

The post holder is expected to:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the Ash ward team, either through direct responsibility or distributed responsibility for patient care.
  • Maintain AC/RC responsibilities for patients in the community under the MHA framework and liaise with the Ministry of Justice as necessary.
  • Collaborate with senior clinical team members to clarify roles, responsibilities, and objectives, ensuring effective communication and safety.
  • Ensure proper coordination and management of each patient's care, providing information on contact points for questions or concerns.
  • Contribute to risk management systems within the team.
  • Record clinical activity accurately and participate in service and business planning activities.

Note: The list of duties is not exhaustive, and there will be opportunities to shape and develop the role further. Special interests can be discussed and incorporated during job plan reviews. External duties are not currently included but may be considered in the future.

OUT-OF-HOURS ON-CALL DUTIES

The post-holder may opt to join the senior out-of-hours on-call rota, subject to availability. Responsibilities include:

  • Senior medical and RC cover for inpatient wards and S12 MHA assessments in Trust premises and the community.
  • Rota operates 1 in 10, from 5 pm to 9 am on weekdays, and from 9 am Saturday to 9 am Monday on weekends.
  • Coverage includes inpatient services for adults, older people, PICU, rehabilitation, and low secure services across various wards.
  • Involves MHA assessments in inpatient wards, safety suites, hospitals, police custody, and community settings.
  • Payment includes 1.25 PA for S12 assessments, a 3% salary enhancement for RC/senior medical cover, and section fees for assessments.
