Job summary

isepglobal Bournemouth is seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our established ecology team. Based in Bournemouth, Dorset, you will undertake PEAs and habitat surveys, conduct protected species surveys and prepare reports to support planning applications.

The role offers a varied workload across developments and conservation projects, with flexible working arrangements, a training budget and strong career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Experience in ecological consultancy or field surveys.
• Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and survey methodologies.
• Experience with ecological reporting for planning applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and habitat surveys.
• Conducting protected species surveys, including bats, reptiles and other UK wildlife.
• Preparing ecological reports to support planning applications.
• Assisting with ecological mitigation strategies and protected species licensing.
• Supporting habitat creation, enhancement and management plans.
• Contributing to ecological assessments for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.
• Liaising with clients and project teams to provide practical ecological advice.
• Supporting the implementation of mitigation measures and ecological works on site.
