Job Description:

As a Consultant Ecologist at RSK Ireland, you will be involved in delivering field surveys, assessments, tender and report writing, and project management across various projects in Ireland.

Locations: Belfast, Dublin, or Cork Offices with hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing small projects under supervision and assisting senior colleagues.
  • Collaborating with ecologists regionally to ensure quality and timely project delivery.
  • Performing fieldwork, including out-of-hours surveys and travel.
  • Applying knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, including protected species surveys.
  • Undertaking ecological impact assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Communicating effectively within the team and mentoring junior members.
  • Maintaining professional integrity and exercising sound judgment.
  • Managing time proactively to meet standards and deadlines.
  • Conducting data analysis and liaising with biological records organizations.
  • Researching and updating industry guidelines and science.
  • Preparing high-quality reports for review.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience or similar previous roles.
  • Full UK/Irish driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Membership of or working towards membership of CIEEM.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Experience as an Ecological Clerk of Works and developing biodiversity enhancement plans.
  • Experience with personal species-specific licenses (e.g., bats, newts, badgers).
