Job description

Prosper Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading ecological consultancy based in the North East of England, dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and biodiversity across various sectors. With a focus on delivering high-quality ecological services, the company engages in a diverse range of projects encompassing renewable energy, residential developments, leisure facilities, and mineral extraction.

Due to increased workload and growth plans, our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to be part of an innovative organisation that engages in a wide array of projects. They have a diverse range of clients, which include everyone from individual homeowners to multinational enterprises, providing plenty of variety in this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Produce high-quality written reports and documentation.
  • Manage projects effectively while liaising with clients to address ecological concerns.
  • Identify, understand, and resolve various ecological issues while demonstrating enthusiasm for UK ecology and the environment.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of the planning system and current wildlife policy and legislation.
  • Proven experience in ecological assessments and surveys, with at least two licenses for Protected Species.
  • Strong report writing skills with an organised, flexible approach to work.
  • Relevant educational background with a good BSc and/or MSc in ecology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with FISC Level 4 and CIEEM membership will be advantageous.
  • Full driving licence and personal transport are required.
