Job Description

Join our dynamic Nature team as a Consultant Ecologist in our offices across the UK, including Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, and others, with flexible hybrid working options. We work on diverse projects such as electrical transmission lines, rail upgrades, hydrogen production facilities, solar farms, water, and highways projects, with opportunities for travel.

In this role, you will support various activities including species and habitat surveys, work-winning, and biodiversity mentoring. Our supportive environment offers training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  1. Participate in health, safety, and well-being initiatives.
  2. Coordinate with project managers and clients on ecological requirements.
  3. Conduct desk studies and field surveys for habitats, botanical, and protected species.
  4. Assist in managing ecological projects' technical and financial aspects.
  5. Analyze and interpret ecological data, prepare reports, and help design mitigation strategies.
  6. Act as Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
  7. Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
  8. Ensure compliance with internal procedures and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience in ecology-related roles in public or private sectors.
  • Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and survey methodologies; membership of professional bodies like CIEEM is preferred.
  • Skills in botanical identification and protected species surveys.
  • Flexible approach to work hours and travel.
  • Report writing experience.
