About the Role

The successful candidate will join a friendly, dynamic consultant team that strives to be regional leaders in delivering high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care in EDM, including teaching, training, and research. The role involves contributing to both inpatient and outpatient activities within the EDM department.

Department Overview

The EDM department at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive diabetes and endocrinology services locally and regionally. These include pancreas and islet transplants, neuropathy management, MODY, tier 3 weight management, and sub-specialist endocrine services, with close links to specialist services at QEH. Sub-specialty interests are encouraged but not mandatory for these positions.

Team and Facilities

A full range of healthcare professionals, including dietitians, podiatrists, diabetes specialist nurses, and endocrine specialist nurses, are based in a purpose-built Diabetes Centre supporting multidisciplinary team working. The successful candidate will engage with the multidisciplinary team and may have the opportunity to participate in sub-specialist clinics or develop a subspecialty interest.
