Job description

Consultant Core CYPMHS and Learning Disability Team

This is an exciting time as CYPMHS in Leeds undergoes a redesign. You will bring excellent leadership, enthusiasm, and strategic skills to help solve challenges and shape the future of the service. You will be welcoming, with a positive approach to seeing children and young people with a range of presentations within our core and LD service. You will hold a caseload, support new assessments and reviews, and provide clinical leadership and support for local and whole service MDTs. The post is for 10 sessions per week, and part-time or job share applications are encouraged. There are on-call responsibilities associated with this post. You will have an identified base but will be expected to work across the city. Good communication skills are essential, and previous knowledge of healthcare systems would be beneficial, although training will be provided. You will work with GMC guidance for multi-agency and multi-disciplinary teams and must work flexibly to meet service needs. The ability to travel is essential, along with a flexible and adaptable attitude. Opportunities exist for postgraduate teaching and research development. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide strategic direction and clinical leadership to the service.
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care to diverse communities ensuring smooth service user journeys.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping in line with Trust policies.
  • Support effective clinical and operational decision-making.
  • Participate in local and service-wide meetings and forums.
  • Contribute to management and service development efforts.
  • Manage and supervise junior medical staff.
  • Support Trust and service policies, escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Carry out Mental Health Act and Responsible Clinician duties as required.
  • Provide specialist prescribing support for complex cases.
  • Attend system meetings as needed, in person or remotely.
  • Contribute to our Learning Disability Team as a consultant.
