Job summary

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust in Crawley/Horsham seeks a Consultant Community Paediatrician to lead as Named Doctor for Looked After Children and manage a neurodevelopmental caseload within a multidisciplinary team.

You will contribute to teaching, quality improvement, and collaboration with CAMHS, Education, and Social Services. There is a focus on training and professional development.

Qualifications

• Two years of Higher Specialty Training in Community Child Health or related field.
• Experience in safeguarding / child protection.
• Experience of involvement in a research project and publication or published audit project.
• Significant experience working with vulnerable children, including those in care.
• Experience of undertaking or overseeing statutory health assessments.
• Experience in service development, audit or quality improvement and supervising colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead role as Named Doctor for Children We Care For and carry a neurodevelopmental/neurodisability caseload.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service.
• Support teaching of medical students and supervise paediatric trainees.
• Engage in quality improvement and peer review activities within the department.
• Participate in safeguarding on-call rota (Weekday 9am-5pm).

MRCPCH or equivalent

Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice

Additional Training & Qualifications in child protection, and looked-after children's health, trauma-informed practice

Evidence of level 3 Safeguarding Children's Competency and working towards level 4
