Job description

Consultant Community CAMHS 20% Golden Hello

This is a full-time post based in Nottinghamshire. The service has been established for many years and offers a comprehensive treatment programme, with opportunities for further development. The caseload will be between 60-70, depending on the current team caseload. The team receives an average of 45 new referrals per month, fluctuating between 18 and 60. The Consultant would not be involved with all cases; involvement follows MDT discussion and agreement on the need for involvement. Young people open to the team typically have a care coordinator and/or therapist in addition to consultant support, especially where medical involvement is required.

There are no special responsibilities associated with this post. The Consultant will work with the clinical team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, evidence-based service to children and young people. The Trust is committed to the use of The Care Programme Approach to ensure continuity of care and needs assessment for all children and young people in services, as required by clinical need. The Consultant will not be expected to act as care co-ordinator.

If the appointed doctor is trained as a clinical supervisor and eligible for trainees, they may have trainees in post. The post holder will be encouraged to act as a clinical supervisor for trainee resident doctors. The post is approved for CT placements.

The post-holder is expected to provide consultation to the multidisciplinary team, offering psychiatric expertise in assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological treatments, use of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, and management of complex or risky presentations and severe symptoms. The Consultant will provide clinical leadership and will have management supervision with their line manager and peer supervision within the Consultant group as required.
