Within the Blood Sciences Directorate, three Consultant Clinical Scientists work as a team led by the Blood Science Clinical Lead, each acting as Professional Head of Department at their site, providing cross-cover during leave, including on-site liaison with staff and clinical users. The post involves practicing autonomously as the single-handed Professional Head of Department for Chemical Pathology at Lincoln and Grantham.
Key responsibilities include being a core member of the Blood Sciences Directorate committee, ensuring delivery of high-quality 24-hour Chemical Pathology services, and providing clinical advisory services to hospital staff, GPs, and healthcare workers across the Trusts and Greater Lincolnshire.
The service adheres to UKAS accreditation standards (ISO 15189). The Humber Health Partnership, comprising NLAG and HUTH NHS Trusts, serves over 1 million patients annually, with a focus on delivering world-class hospital and community services, research, and innovation.
The post requires working closely with colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare, ensuring excellent clinical service, leadership to junior staff, and adherence to trust policies. Flexible working arrangements are supported to promote work-life balance and staff well-being.
