Consultant Clinical Scientist applicants must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), have the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists by examination, and hold a certificate of completion of HSST.

We’re looking for a passionate and committed individual who shares our values and is eager to invest in continuous improvement and transformation of our services.

Your role will be essential in leading, delivering, and developing our busy and expanding services for patient benefit and is key to our succession planning over the next five years.

You will participate in the duty microbiologist rota and provide a Consultant Clinical Advisory Service in Clinical Microbiology for diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of patients. This includes providing guidance on result interpretation and further testing to aid diagnosis and treatment for healthcare staff within the Trust, Mental Health services, community, and ICBs in southern Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Participation in the out-of-hours rota, ensuring availability of clinical and analytical advice at all times, is required. Currently, this is a 1 in 5 rota shared among the Consultant microbiologists.
