A healthcare organization providing cancer care is seeking a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead the new Macmillan psychotherapy pathway. The role requires extensive clinical experience in cancer and physical health psychology, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to improving patient care. This is a full-time position with a salary range of £76,965 to £88,682 per annum, pro rata.

This is a consultant level post, partly funded by Macmillan, which will specifically provide input to the cancer psychology pathways. Therefore this post holder requires extensive clinical experience in cancer, as well as broader physical health psychology.
You will provide operational leadership to the inpatient and outpatient pathways for cancer psychology and the new Macmillan service. The new Macmillan pathway aims to ensure that adults affected by cancer experience excellent psycho-social care wherever they are on the cancer pathway to increase;
The service places a high value on service user involvement and the value of co-production and design in delivering personalised care. We therefore welcome applications from people with lived experience of cancer and/or long-term physical health conditions
The post holder will also be a core member of the consultant leadership team in CHPS and will support the Head of Service and colleagues with the strategic development of the service, providing clinical leadership and line management within the service.
You will be the clinical lead for the new Macmillan pathway in cancer, managing and supporting the team and contributing to the implementation, development and evaluation of the service and Macmillan Project. You will provide highly specialised psychological therapy and assessment for patients with Cancer for patients living in Preston, Chorley and South Cumbria.
Collaboration is a critical aspect of this role. You will work closely with the psycho-oncology collaborative, psychology colleagues, MDT's and key stakeholders, both within the Clinical Business Unit and Voluntary sector.
You will provide supervision to psychological practitioners and heath service and contribute to and facilitate a varied training programme for professionals. You will facilitate triage meetings and contribute to highly specialist clinical health psychology discussions for patients living with cancer, and support with integrated multidisciplinary care.
As part of the Macmillan project you will engage in audit and research within the pathway to further the development of the pathway.
There is an expectation for you to undertake extended roles and responsibilities within the Clinical Health Psychology Services and to work flexibly across the services as directed by the Head of the Clinical Health Psychology. You will also provide managerial support and professional leadership to members of the psychology team working across a range of physical health specialities.
