Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre (WoSCC) seeks to appoint a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a special interest in Lung Cancer.

Open since May 2007, the centre is Scotland’s largest cancer facility and the second largest in the UK, costing £110 million. It serves a catchment area of 2.9 million across four Health Board areas and is part of the CRUK virtual comprehensive cancer treatment and research centre, including the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research and a future Translational Research Centre. The centre features state-of-the-art equipment, including 11 linear accelerators with on-board imaging, IGRT, IMRT, Stereotactic Radiotherapy, VMAT technology, a new brachytherapy unit, and a satellite centre at Monklands Hospital for expanded radiotherapy capacity.

The centre is an internationally renowned academic hub with Professors in Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Translational Research, and Palliative Care. Its clinical research unit is the largest funded by Cancer Research UK, supporting first-in-man clinical trials and hosting Scotland’s first National Cancer Research Institute coordinating centre.

Glasgow offers excellent schools, public transport, and recreational facilities.
