Salary: 105,504 - 139,882 per annum (10 PA per week)
Meridian Business Support is currently seeking a
Consultant Clinical Oncologist to join a dedicated oncology team in Plymouth on a
6-12 month fixed-term contract. This role will focus on
Lung Cancer and potentially
Urology, delivering high-quality care within a dynamic and supportive NHS environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead new patient (NP) and follow-up (FU) clinics
- Provide ward round cover
- Plan and prescribe Radical Radiotherapy (RT) and systemic treatments
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient care
About You:We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Clinical Oncologist with:
Essential
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for geriatric medicine and general internal medicine, through either: a) Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) - or be within 6 months of completion at the date of interview. b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) c) European Community Rights
Desirable
- Relevant higher degree (MD/PhD)
- Qualification in Medical Education
ExperienceEssential
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Oncology
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion across a wide range of oncological situations both elective and emergency
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Specialist experience in urological cancer
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy
Clinical Knowledge and SkillsEssential
- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty

- Evidence of management training and evidence of learning from it
- Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
- Ability to cope with and effectively organise the workload of a consultant
- Ability to practice independently as a consultant
- Ability to take on responsibility and show evidence of leadership
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with setbacks
Desirable
- Demonstration of knowledge of NHS management structures
- Management experience
