Job Description:

ERM’s Net Zero Transition Strategy team, within our broader Sustainability & Climate Solutions (S&CS) function, is expanding. We seek consultants to support clients in shaping and implementing climate strategies and building resilient business models for the net zero economy. There are significant opportunities for personal growth, increased responsibility, and developing market-leading offerings.

This role focuses on transition strategy, including climate-related transition risks and opportunities, financial implications of climate, and transition planning. The successful candidate may also contribute to other areas such as decarbonisation strategy, target setting, and GHG inventories. Details of responsibilities and required skills are outlined below.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in client delivery by collaborating with team members, including preparing presentations and workshops.
  • Identify reporting gaps, draft risk and opportunity assessments, perform climate scenario analysis, quantify financial risks and opportunities, and prepare disclosures related to climate transition risks and opportunities.
  • Help clients develop and disclose credible transition plans aligned with regulatory and disclosure standards.
  • Develop strategies and implementation plans, including roadmaps and sustainable business transformation engagement.
  • Communicate findings effectively, fostering client interest in transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
  • Support business development activities, including drafting proposals and creating new service offerings.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, internal newsletters, and learning sessions within ERM.

Person specification:

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Background: Knowledge of climate change and sustainability, with experience in strategy or management consulting. Understanding of decarbonisation and net zero pathways.
  • Motivational fit: Ability to produce high-quality outputs, work independently, collaborate effectively, think critically, and handle ambiguity.
  • Regulatory & finance knowledge: Experience with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, CSRD), climate scenario analysis, and understanding of regulatory changes.
  • Financial modelling: Advanced Excel skills, experience in financial models, quantitative analysis, and data manipulation, preferably with climate-related knowledge.
  • Communication skills: Ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical audiences through workshops and presentations.
  • Familiarity with financial audits and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with climate-related risks and opportunities, through study or professional roles.

At ERM, we value our people. We prioritize safety, career development, and well-being. Our inclusive culture embraces diversity, and we offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid and home working. Our team values respect, openness, and collaboration across services and geographies.
