Job description
Overview

The Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a locum consultant in anaesthesia within the Anaesthetic Department. The post attracts 10 PA's with a starting 12-month job plan including 1.5 SPA, commencing as soon as possible. The plan may be adjusted based on ability to undertake emergency on-call commitment, which would be remunerated at 2 PA after assessment. The successful candidate will have access to full secretarial support, a personal computer, and office accommodation as required. The department provides anaesthesia for a wide variety of specialist areas including cardiac, thoracic, cardiology and critical care. A variety of sessions can be tailored to suit the appropriately qualified candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic cover for cardiac, thoracic, cardiology and critical care procedures.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and participate in regular governance activities (clinical governance, appraisal, incident reviews, morbidity and mortality meetings).
  • Support teaching and training of anaesthetic trainees and juniors.
  • Participate in on-call arrangements as required and adapt to service development plans.
  • Maintain professional standards and contribute to a culture of civility and kindness in line with Trust values.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 12 months cardiothoracic anaesthesia experience.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • On the Specialist Register.
  • For visa applicants: UKVI guidelines apply; a criminal record certificate from any country of residence for 12 months or more in the last 10 years may be required for Skilled Worker visas and dependants.
