Job Description:

NHS – CONSULTANT BREAST RADIOLOGY VACANCY

We have been asked by an NHS Foundation Trust in South West England to help recruit a Consultant Breast Radiologist, either on a substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis.

The post will be based out of a purpose-built integrated unit, separate from the main hospital. It is a fully equipped Screening Unit with 4 FFDM units, 2 with stereotactic capability and tomosynthesis, and one with contrast-enhanced spectral mammography. There are 2 ultrasound units. Mobile units provide screening at other sites within the Trust.

The unit is involved in role extension with Advanced Practice Radiographers performing film reading, ultrasound, and image-guided breast biopsies. Screening MRI is available in the adjacent Imaging Centre. The team participates in audit and research, including clinical trials involving Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, and breast MRI.

This is a replacement position; both full and part-time hours are available. The candidate should have experience in breast imaging in screening and symptomatic settings, including reporting mammograms, ultrasound, biopsies, wire localizations, and breast MRI. GMC registration is essential. Overseas applicants are welcome.

The team consists of 3 Consultant Radiologists, 2 Breast Clinicians, and 1 Consultant Radiographer.

The location offers scenic beauty, cultural, and leisure activities, with excellent schools. It is situated between areas of outstanding natural beauty, ideal for outdoor activities like cycling, surfing, and climbing.
