The post is for joining the paediatric anaesthetic group at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, providing flexible teamworking for children’s anaesthesia in Oxford. The Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics is among the largest in the country, known for its friendly, diverse, and inclusive team, supported by outstanding surgical colleagues. The department offers comprehensive elective and emergency services across multiple specialties.
The post involves fixed theatre days including paediatric spinal surgery, pre-operative assessment, cleft, ophthalmic, and general surgery (including emergency and neonatal procedures). There is flexible cover for non-cardiac paediatric specialties and an on-call commitment within the group.

Clinical: The role involves theatre days with paediatric spinal and other surgeries, pre-op assessments, and flexible coverage for non-cardiac paediatric surgery, including on-call duties.
Teaching/Research: The post involves participation in teaching clinical students, training junior doctors, and contributing to examinations, integrated into daily clinical activities. Contributions to teaching, training, and research will be reviewed regularly.
Clinical Governance: The post-holder will participate in clinical governance activities including audits, risk management, and quality improvement, complying with Trust and external standards.
Personal and Professional Development: The post-holder must stay updated in their field and may be supported with study leave for training, CME, and personal development, subject to Trust policies.
Management: The post requires working within Trust policies, managing resources responsibly, and undertaking administrative duties related to patient care and service management under supervision.
