Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) is recruiting a Generalist Consultant Anaesthetist to join its large Anaesthetics Department. The successful candidate will deliver consultant-level anaesthesia, participate in perioperative assessments and contribute to emergency anaesthetic care across specialties.

Qualifications

• FRCA or equivalent; GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Higher specialist training in anaesthetic specialties or equivalent experience.
• Higher training in perioperative medicine or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of commitment to research and clinical audit.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level anaesthetic services across adult medical and surgical specialties.
• Undertake perioperative assessment clinics and evaluate patients before procedures.
• Deliver safe anaesthesia based on patient needs and surgical requirements.
• Support adult scoliosis and head and neck cancer surgery.
• Contribute to intensive care services and training.
• Participate in emergency anaesthetic on-call rota; approx. 1 in 20.
• Engage in clinical governance, audits and guideline development.
• Supervise junior doctors and participate in teaching and research.
