Job summary

Allianz Commercial invites applications for a Construction Underwriter in London, with a hybrid model requiring attendance at least 2 days per week. You will underwrite new construction risks, extend existing accounts, price risk, and nurture broker relationships to drive profitable growth.

The role demands experience in construction underwriting, strong communication, and a proactive approach to market opportunities within Allianz’s underwriting framework.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers.
• Ability to underwrite both new and renewal business effectively.

• Underwrite new business construction risks to meet growth and profitability targets
• Manage extensions, ensuring strong retention and positive customer outcomes
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business
• Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings

This is an exciting opportunity to join the expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth across both new and existing business.

The candidate will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.

Location: This role is based in the London office, with a hybrid working arrangement requiring attendance at least 2 days per week.

Salary Information

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is one component of the total reward package.

About the Role
