Job Title: Technical Coordinator

Accountable to: Construction Director

Hours of work: 8.30am – 4.30pm

Personal Profile:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Ideally, you will have at least 3 years of experience in the construction industry with a solid knowledge of best building practices and products.
  • GCSEs or equivalent with grade C or above in English, Maths, and Science.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn specialized software as needed.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication skills to handle difficult situations confidently.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Awareness of current legislation, regulations, construction methods, and technology.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and site locations as required by the company.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical work approach.

Responsibilities:

About The Role:

Assist in managing external consultants involved with the technical team, ensuring the production of accurate drawings for new housing developments and private renovation contracts. Follow briefs from stakeholders, negotiate with authorities for approvals, and coordinate technical specifications for the construction team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Support the Technical Manager in ensuring all construction regulations and permits are adhered to.
  • Project Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and designers to ensure technical accuracy throughout the build process. Create and oversee technical specifications.
  • Design Review & Implementation: Work with the Technical Manager to ensure architectural plans meet building codes and regulations. Arrange necessary permits and inspections timely.
  • Quality Assurance & Control: Help identify causes of defects and conduct site visits to verify compliance with technical and client specifications.
  • Technical Support: Address technical issues during construction, providing solutions and guidance to site managers and contractors.
  • Supply Chain & Resource Management: Liaise with procurement to source materials meeting technical standards.
  • Management & Budgeting: Be aware of technical budgets, assist in maintaining financial constraints, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on technical progress, risks, and compliance issues to managers.
  • Sustainability & Innovation: Research sustainable practices and energy-efficient technologies, and promote health and safety standards in line with company policies.
