Job description

Are you an experienced Construction Supervisor with a background in fuel storage, Oil and Gas, or Petrochem sites? Our client, with four strategically located terminals in the UK, is seeking a talented individual to join their team at their Essex site.

Offering a negotiable salary plus annual bonus, private healthcare, and full support for professional development.

You will play a key role in audits, managing contractors on site, preparing method statements, conducting risk assessments, and leading HAZOP meetings.

Key aspects of the role
  1. Ensure contractors comply with all site safety rules, permit to work conditions, and project scope of works.
  2. Ensure construction works are designed and built according to the Scope of Work, Project Execution Plan, and Contract.
  3. Ensure contractors adhere to the latest Approved For Construction (AFC) drawings, specifications, procedures, and site instructions.
  4. Flag potential variations to the Navigator project manager and follow the Contract variation procedure.
  5. Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow checking procedures.
  6. Promote and maintain strong working relationships between Navigator and contractors.
  7. Ensure pre-commissioning and commissioning plans are in place at appropriate stages.
  8. Oversee pre/post commissioning snagging and ensure procedures are in place to close out snagging items before handover.
  9. Ensure handover certification, including as-built drawings and handover pack, is completed prior to project sign-off.
  10. Develop Method Statements and Risk Assessments with suppliers, contractors, and staff in accordance with Safe System of Work (SSOW).
  11. Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work permits issued to suppliers and contractors.
  12. Involve site operations in construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  13. Lead and guide contracted works to meet productivity, quality, and contract completion targets.
  14. Audit contractor progress to ensure work aligns with plans, budgets, and RAMs requirements.
  15. Ensure compliance with the Construction Phase Plan under Construction Design Management regulations.
Experience Required
  • Degree or diploma in construction management, civil engineering, or mechanical field.
  • NVQ level 3 or 4 in Construction Site Supervision.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme certification.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor Training Course.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Experience in construction or supervisory roles on process, chemical, or petrochemical / COMAH sites.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, LOLER, & Working at Height Regulations.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary brownfield projects, including tank farm construction, infrastructure, pipework, and pipeline upgrades.
  • Training in COSHH, Fire Awareness, LOLER, DSEAR, PUWER, Risk Assessment, Working at Heights, CDM Regulations & Awareness, Manual Handling, Process Safety Management, HAZOP, IOSH, Asbestos Awareness, AutoCAD P&ID, Piping System Design & Operation, Electrical Safety.
  • Engineering qualification and strong communication skills.
  • Experience as Site Main Controller.
