We have an exciting new opportunity for a Construction Supervisor to join our Network Design and Construction team in the Assets Directorate. This role will ensure the effective delivery of high quality and commercially competitive mains renewals, lead renewal, diversions and new development projects.

Our team is dedicated to designing, planning and safely installing the network infrastructure that delivers water to our customers. You’ll take ownership of schemes, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the effective delivery of capital works whilst minimising the impact on our customers and their communities. You will work in partnership with the asset owners and others to ensure all work follows correct process and is delivered safely and without risk to our customers or ODIs.

We’re looking for you to be accountable for crews working across the North Eastoperating area. You’ll be responsible for managing people and resources to ensure all planned work is delivered in time and under budget. Progress on sites is monitored, with performance measured and addressed appropriately through continuous improvement and escalated where the solution is outside of your control.

To be successful, you’ll need to demonstrate that you have a high level of technical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple demands from your team, ensuring that all construction activities are delivered in line with our guidelines on health and safety, water quality, environmental and cost management.

We are looking for someone with great team-building skills, and a strong focus on commercial performance management and engagement, along with an ability and desire to create an open and positive working environment that people want to join. You’ll ensure that high standards of health and safety are adhered to at all times as well as ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with the NRSWA signing, guarding and traffic management requirements.

About you

It would be advantageous to have experience in a supervisory or management position or exhibit relevant leadership behaviours; and be confident working collaboratively with contract partners and stakeholders across the business.

You’ll ideally have experience of isolation operations on a water network, i.e. safety procedures and an understanding of hydraulics and the effects this can have on pipe integrity. You’ll previously have worked with deep excavations, large diameter repairs and been exposed to the operation of a large plant and equipment.

A full UK driving licence is required for the role. You’ll be a great communicator and be able to exchange information to a very high standard with both internal and external customers.

You’ll have proven experience being technically minded and be able to work unsupervised and organise your own time and priorities. We’re looking for you to be self-motivated and a good problem solver with the ability to work flexibly and prioritise tasks effectively.
