Job summary

Winsearch is partnering with an established specialist contractor to appoint an experienced Construction Supervisor to support major construction projects. Site-based in Barrow-in-Furness, permanent, full-time role reporting to the Construction Package Manager.

You will supervise daily activity across work packages, coordinating subcontractors, labour, materials and site access to ensure works are delivered safely, correctly and on programme.

Qualifications

  • Relevant construction supervision or package-delivery experience
  • Appropriate CSCS card
  • Experience supervising subcontractors on major projects
  • Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily delivery of assigned construction packages
  • Coordinate subcontractors, operatives and site activities
  • Lead daily briefings and set work priorities
  • Monitor labour productivity and installation progress
  • Support short-term planning and lookahead programmes
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials, access and storage
  • Identify programme delays and support recovery actions
  • Manage interfaces between trades and packages
  • Review RAMS and ensure approved methods are followed
  • Carry out site inspections and compliance checks
  • Support toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Ensure works meet approved drawings and specifications
  • Implement Inspection and Test Plans
  • Manage quality inspections, snagging and defects
  • Maintain site diaries, progress records and photographs
  • Coordinate inspections, sign-offs and handover activity
  • Escalate technical, design, programme and commercial issues
  • Provide accurate progress updates to the Package Manager

Construction Supervisor

Site-based in Barrow-in-Furness

Permanent, full-time

£50,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

Winsearch is proud to partner with an established specialist contractor looking to appoint an experienced Construction Supervisor to support the delivery of major construction projects.

Reporting to the Construction Package Manager, you'll supervise daily activity across assigned work packages, coordinating subcontractors, labour, materials and site access to ensure works are delivered safely, correctly and on programme.

The Role

You'll support the delivery of packages including windows, external doors, building services, interiors and associated construction works.

Working closely with the Package Manager, specialist subcontractors and wider project team, you'll ensure everyone understands the programme, approved drawings, quality requirements and safe systems of work.

You'll monitor progress, productivity and workmanship, maintain accurate records and escal risks before they affect delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

Health And Safety

You'll lead by example and ensure subcontractors and operatives comply with site procedures.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Monitoring compliance with RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Challenging unsafe behaviour promptly
  • Carrying out inspections and recording findings
  • Ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Confirming operatives have the required training and competency
  • Reporting incidents, near misses and safety concerns
  • Maintaining safe, clean and organised work areas
Programme And Quality

You'll work with the Package Manager to maintain progress against the wider construction programme.

This will include:
  • Tracking work against daily and weekly priorities
  • Coordinating subcontractor activities and trade interfaces
  • Confirming labour, plant and materials are available
  • Identifying access, sequencing and logistical constraints
  • Supporting practical recovery plans
  • Checking installation quality throughout delivery
  • Maintaining photographic and written quality records
  • Coordinating inspections with QA/QC teams
  • Managing snagging and remedial works
  • Supporting package completion and handover
What They're Looking For
  • Experience supervising construction packages or specialist subcontract works
  • Experience working on major construction projects
  • Background managing subcontractors and site operatives
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions
  • Experience working with RAMS, ITPs and quality records
  • Good understanding of site health and safety requirements
  • Confidence leading briefings and coordinating work activities
  • Ability to monitor productivity and report progress accurately
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Practical problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Confidence escalating issues to the Package Manager
Qualifications
Essential
  • Relevant construction supervision or package-delivery experience
  • Appropriate CSCS card
  • Experience supervising subcontractors on major projects
  • Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements
Desirable
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • First Aid at Work
  • CSCS Gold Supervisor Card or Black Manager Card
  • NVQ, HNC or HND in Construction Management or a related discipline
  • Relevant temporary works or lifting training
About You

This role will suit someone visible, organised and confident managing daily site activity.

You'll need to maintain productive relationships with subcontractors while holding people accountable for safety, quality, productivity and programme. You should be comfortable making practical decisions, maintaining accurate records and raising issues before they become larger problems.
