The Opportunity:

A respected and long-established commercial law firm in the heart of Manchester is looking to strengthen its growing construction team with the addition of a talented Construction Solicitor. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 3+ years’ post-qualified experience who is seeking a varied and challenging role within a dynamic and supportive environment.

The team is known for its commercially savvy, partner-led service and works with a diverse client base including developers, funders, contractors, and professional consultants. The successful candidate will be joining a team that prides itself on high-quality work, collaboration, and career development.

Role Overview:

You will work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, although the balance can be tailored depending on your preference and experience. This includes advising on standard form and bespoke building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, development agreements, and disputes arising from construction projects.

You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other departments including real estate and corporate, providing construction input on cross-disciplinary transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advising clients on a wide range of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious
• Drafting and negotiating JCT and NEC contracts, appointments, warranties, and related construction documentation
• Assisting with the resolution of disputes through adjudication, arbitration, and litigation
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
• Supporting partners with business development and contributing to the ongoing growth of the construction practice

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience in construction law
• Solid experience in either contentious, non-contentious, or mixed construction work
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a commercial and pragmatic mindset
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• A collaborative team player who is enthusiastic about developing their practice and contributing to the wider success of the firm
