We are seeking hands-on, experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of utility-scale solar farm projects from site setup through to commissioning and handover. Working for a leading solar EPC contractor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality construction of solar assets.

During the interview process you will be required to demonstrate good working knowledge and previous case studies of projects you have built. Please also be able to share strong references.

Whilst the first site is in the North East, there will be ongoing projects continuing for the next 2 years, so this can be either a 6-month contract or a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all on-site construction activities for utility-scale solar farms, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, site supervisors, laborers, and equipment to ensure daily construction targets are met.
  • Work closely with the project manager, engineering, procurement, and HSE teams to ensure seamless site execution.
  • Enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, promoting a safety-first culture on-site.
  • Maintain construction schedules, report progress, and escalate delays or technical issues to the project leadership team.
  • Monitor compliance with design drawings, technical specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Manage site logistics, including delivery scheduling, site access control, laydown areas, and equipment allocation.
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure all work is completed to required standards before energisation.
  • Oversee punch list resolution, commissioning support, and project close-out documentation.
  • Interface with clients, landowners, local authorities, and other key stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Construction Manager or Site Manager on utility-scale solar PV projects in excess of 30mW
  • Solid understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes involved in solar farm construction.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting systems, cable trenching, HV/LV installations, and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Strong understanding of HSE best practices and CDM regulations (UK) or equivalent standards depending on location.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction programmes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate diverse site teams.
  • Comfortable working in remote, rural, or challenging environments.
  • Valid driver’s license; SMSTS or equivalent construction safety certification required.

Apply today; due to the volume of applications, if you do not meet the requirements, please do not expect a response. Apologies in advance.
